Writing involves two very important skills: Fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. Your child is still sharpening her pincer grasp, which will help her hold crayons, pencils, etc., a prerequisite to writing and drawing.

Let your child see you writing often. For instance, making the grocery list, writing the expenses for the day, etc. This way she understands writing happens even at home besides school. You can also involve her to write few items.
When your child sits to write, be supportive rather than a critic. If she is drawing and gets stuck, guide her. May be you can show her few pictures and she can try on her own. Let her take her time and don’t rush into finishing the activity.
Create a workspace where she can experiment. Keep the art and writing supplies handy. The more she writes, the habit of writing will improve. However, don’t force her to write. Rather, create opportunities where she takes the initiative to write.
Involve your child to write/draw on special occasions. For instance, sending a Diwali card to her grand parents. It will be a card that will be treasured by her grandparents OR after packing the gift for her friend’s birthday, she can write her name on the compliment card or while playing board game, let her write the points earned by each player. Make it fun and learning.
