At this point, ''Practice what you preach'' is a quote you need to live by, especially when raising your little one. Your child's immediate reference point to all things good and bad is his parents. By default he will presume that what you are doing cannot possibly be wrong since you have always taught him to do the right thing.

In such a situation if he notices you breaking your own rules, he's not likely to take them seriously either. So, it is best that you follow for yourself the same rules that you are setting for your child. Lead by example so that the child understands the difference between right and wrong very clearly. As a child, he does not understand the concept of certain liberties that grown-ups are allowed. Until your little one reaches that age, ensure that rules are universally followed by one and all.
