Offer Your Kid Suggestions But Let Him Find The Solution

Your child is slowly becoming eligible of dealing with certain issues on his own and his problem solving skills are honing. Teach your child to handle hurdles independently. Be patient and let him come up with a solution himself, no matter how much time he takes. Resist the temptation to jump in and do everything for your child.
You can encourage your kid with suggestions if he is genuinely stuck. For instance, say, “You can use water color to color the mountain if you don’t have a crayon.” But let him contemplate the suggestion and make the final choice.
Create a role-play game where your kid can solve pretend problems. For example, enact a school situation where your kid has forgotten to bring his crayons – what can he do to resolve the issue? Let him come up with suggestions like, asking the teacher, borrowing from a friend, etc. This way, his problem solving skills will get better and gradually, he will be able to solve a list of small problems without much help from you.
