Your child is now old enough to have her own little social circle. This may consist of schoolmates, neighbourhood pals, cousins, etc. As her friend circle grows, you need to enhance her social skills. An important aspect of social mingling is acceptance from peers and peer pressure.

Social acceptance is a crucial issue every child deals with. Your child wishes to be noticed and acknowledged by her peer group. However, there may be times when your child might feel isolated. At these times, she needs you to be there to support and motivate her.
At times your kid will come and tell you if something is bothering her regarding her peers. However, sometimes she may become quiet and withdrawn, not wanting to go to school or to play with her friends. In this case you need to probe gently to get to the bottom of the matter. Let her know that you are on her side and that she can trust you.
