Quick Tips On How To Respond To Your Child's Emotions

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Your child is exploring the world around her and seeks adventure. There will be times when she tests your limits by throwing tantrums, crying, hitting or screaming. She does not have much control over her emotional impulses. What you can do?

-Get your child's attention diverted. Engage her in something else so that she forgets her meltdown.

-Find out what's bothering her. Once the feelings are named by her, help her cope.

-Give her some space. Let her get the feelings out, pull herself together and regain self-control. This strategy works on its own.

-When an emotional outburst occurs, keep your calm(or at least pretend to).

    -Identify the tantrum-triggers.

-Keep routines predictable. -Reward good behaviour.
