Reassure Your Kids That You Are There For Them And They Are Safe

At this stage, it is very common for your child to feel scared and less confident. His young mind will always second guess everything, putting him in a place where he feels less secure. How can you tackle this? You can help by simply being there for him. Here is how:

1. Know what is going on in your child's everyday life. Keep those communication channels open and let him know that he can come to you and talk to you about anything! This is enough for him to feel a lot secure than he feels.

2. Let him know he can rely on you. When he talks to you about a certain fear or a problem, help him with it even if you think it is trivial to be dealt with. Even if your child talks about being scared of the new stuffed animal you bought for him, address it so he knows for sure that there is nothing to be afraid of. Words just will not do here.

3. Reassure him about what you helped him overcome earlier. Remind him over and over that the stuffed animal will not cause any harm and he need not worry about it. This helps establish trust.

4. Spend quality time with him. Do what he likes to do for a change. This will make him understand that you consider what he wants as well.

5. Show up to his recitals, sports events, etc. It will really motivate him as he spots you in the audience from the stage. This is sure to make him happy. The happier he is, the more secure he feels and it means you are doing a terrific job as a parent.
