Strike A Balance Between Supervising Your Kid And Letting them Go

At this stage, your child needs an appropriate balance between leniency and stictness from you in your parenting style. Raising a kid can be a challenging task, especially when they reach an age where they are capable of performing basic tasks by themselves, yet need an adult supervision in several other areas of life.

This the time when you need to exercise a balance of patience and wisdom. Allow your little one the space to make his own decisions but be there to steer him away from the wrong ones. Sometimes it may require a sterner approach. Do not hesitate in doing it if that is for the benefit of the child. If you sense a rebellion in his behavior upon any decision you made on his behalf, sit him down, take him through the reasons you made that decision. When you explain to him like an adult instead of writing him off like a kid who does not understand, he will be in a better position to appreciate your point of view and be less rebellious about it. Never make him feel like he is not smart enough to understand your point of view. That is a recipe for disaster.
