At this point, your child is likely to develop a list of annoying habits. Nose picking is a bad habit. And certainly not one of those habits that a child should be picking up in life. But, interestingly, most of the kids have this habit, which is quite annoying in many ways. But have you ever thought why child does this even though he himself might know that the habit is bad?

Few reasons: Attention seeking is one of the reasons. He knows that once he starts picking his nose, he will be given attention by his parents. Secondly, nervousness. Sometimes kids do it out of nervousness too. So, as a parent you need to understand if there is anything that is bothering him. There are bacterial infections and dryness also that propels a child to pick his nose time and again. So, if this is a regular habit and you see a pattern, then ensure that you make a note of it and act accordingly. Instead of scolding the child or telling him to stop nose digging, try to distract the child with some activity that will keep his hands occupied.
