Try Showing Affection Instead Of Reacting Angrily

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Parental affection enhances the wellbeing and development in children. This includes loving them unconditionally, genuine expressions of warmth - a smile, physical affection through a tight hug, being respectfu. Handling a child's anger can be challenging, puzzling, exhaustive and in turn, we are led to lose our temper. To respond effectively follow these tips:

    1. I love you: Most often when kids are being defiant, adamant and fuss, it shows they are craving affection but do not know how to show or express them. A loving hug or a lovable word “I love you” will be far more effective than a sharp reprimand at times of being defiant. Once your sweetie is calm, talk to her and resolve the issue.

    2. Lend your ears: When your sweetie has some problems, listen to her and find ways to solve them. Give a message to her that you are there for her during difficult times.

    3. Be generous: Show affection in abundance. Like a kind touch back when she touches you. A kind look and smile when she walks into your room.

    4. Play to delight her: Visit her home when she is playing the doll house. Carry some flowers, cookies with you.

    5. Demonstrating love in different way: When she has contributed to the household chores, praise her for helping hand, hug and her gift a packet of her favourite chips.

    6. Avoid comparison: Do not compare her with others, especially with her siblings.

    7. Ban humilation: Never put your kid to shame, name calling and humiliation.
