Encourage the little one to answer in complete sentences instead of giving ‘yes’ or ‘no’ responses. Children need their fair share of time to understand and be able to speak fluently. However, the habit to use adequate vocabulary can be inculcated by teaching your little one to speak out daily objects and activities. Talking about basic things that attract your child’s interest, might be a good way to engage them in conversation and encourage them to speak. For example, if it is raining outside, you can engage your child in an active conversation about the weather and the rain. For children who are late talkers, you need to learn specific techniques to turn everyday activities into opportunities to build your child’s vocabulary. Keep talking about what you are doing, and ask your kid questions about it.
