When To Let Go And When To Push Your Child- An Important Trick To Learn- Quick Hacks

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Firstly, try to understand what works for your kid. Is he someone who will do something with a push or someone who turns rebellious and upset? In such cases, it is better to let go and find another solution to the problem.

Secondly, you must ponder who really wants this, you or the kid. For eg. you are asking your child to drink a glass of water and he refuses. Rather than jumping to a conclusion ponder whether he is thirsty at all or is it you who wants him to drink. A refusal by the kid need not necessarily be a negative gesture. It might just be his call at that moment.

Thirdly, why at all is he giving up- is it his lack of confidence or he really can't do it? In such a case, if the child is unable to do it, let him go at that moment and teach him later. But, if it’s about confidence, do find out ways to address it at that moment. Last but not the least, think if at all this is necessary in the long run. You can always make a wise choice depending on the nature of the activity and its impact. This way you make a deliberate and pragmatic choice about whether to push your child further or let it go for the moment.
