10 Ways to Bond With Your Child Effectively

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

All parents crave for close moments with their kids. Bonding is as essential to you as parents, as it is to your child. The connection is also the only reason your sweetie pie willingly follow your rules. Kids who feel strongly connected to their parents always cooperate as they have trust that they know what’s best for them.

Tips to bond with your child

So it’s time to build connections with your kid on a daily basis. A few ways can be followed:

Aim for physical connections every day:

Hug your child first thing in the morning as this is the best time he feels connected. Hug him also when you say goodbye when you’re reunited, at bedtime. This is the best way to connect.

Connect with your child before the transitions:

Kids have a hard time in changing from one state to another. You are the only person that can change this hard time into fun time. For instance, spend 5 minutes with your kiddo every morning after he wakes up before he goes into a normal routine like brushing, bathing, etc.

Spend time playing with your child every day:

Try to spend time with your child by playing with him. This will also stimulate endorphins and oxytocins in both of you that are important for releasing of stress and happiness.Making playfulness a daily habit also gives your child a chance to work through his anxieties and stress.

Do not get distracted:

Turn off technology when you interact with your child. Yes, in this case, your child will remember for the rest of his life that he was important enough to his parents that they turned off phones and music just to listen to him.

Spend special time with your kiddo:

Every day, try to spend 15 minutes with your child to do what he wants you to do. This will make him feel very special. Try to do what he likes the most, reading a storybook or playing the piano.

Handle with patience:

Try to accept the meltdowns, don’t let the anger trigger you. Welcome the tears and fears that always hide behind the anger. Remember that you’re the one he trusts enough to cry with and breathe your way through it. Afterwards, he’ll feel more relaxed, cooperative and closer to you.

Share every moment with your kiddo:

Try to share every experience with your little one. For instance, let him smell the strawberries before you serve them, let him feel the flow of water with you before you give him a shower. This will definitely bring you both closer.

Be a good listener:

In every relationship, you can connect with listening. That is, the habit of seeing things from your child’s perspective will ensure that you treat him with respect and look for win-win solutions. It will help you see the reasons for behavior that would otherwise drive you crazy.

Little chat at bedtime:

Bedtime is the best time to connect with your sweetie pie. This is the time when your little one is having the thoughts about what happened to him all day or about the plans for next day. For instance, if have a race tomorrow and he is worried about the results, you can assure him that he has practiced a lot and hard work never go waste.

Show up:

We as parents are busy most of the times with our daily chores. But your child has only about 900 weeks of childhood with you before he becomes independent. So make sure that when you’re engaged with your child, just be right here, right now.
