    • Your child at this point is working on his motor skills and his day is now filled with more activity which calls for more nutrition by including variety of healthy foods in his meals. Getting him to eat, especially new foods becomes a challenge as he is learning to make choices, which gets his eating habits very unpredictable at times.

    • Introduce new foods one at a time. Keep the quantity small. Let it be part of the meal which has foods he is familiar with.

    • Schedule the new snack when he is actually hungry.

    • It may take few more attempts from him to accept a new food. This is because he may be particular about the colour, texture, taste of the new food. So keep trying but don’t make it a power struggle between both of you. Most importantly, don’t force him to eat.

    • Meal times have to be fun, calm and relaxed. Avoid distractions and eat together as a family. Let your child see you eating the right healthy foods. Modelling right eating and praising his efforts to try new foods can make the mealtime easier for both of you.
