    • There is a lot going on in your child’s developing cognitive abilities. With her newly found ability to walk, she wants to explore the world around her, try new motor skills like climbing, running, etc. On talking front, though her vocabulary is limited, she babbles a lot trying to imitate what she hears. A positive tone, lot of encouragement and praise  and above all unconditional love, will build a strong foundation for confidence.

    • Set realistic goals and help her achieve them. For instance, as she builds a tower using 3 to 4 blocks, applaud her achievement.

    • Never yell, ignore or label her. If you do so, give her a hug and apologize. Say, “I love you cutiepie.”

    • Don’t be in the rush to keep correcting her. Rather, teach her the right way. Keep the numbers for situations where her safety is involved.

    • Encourage exploration. Help her try new things. Be it a new food, trying to play with a new toy, playing in the park and trying a new play equipment. Supervise, but build confidence in her ability to deal with new scenarios.
