Soothe Your Kid's Sore Gums With Something Cool

At this age, your child typically begins to teethe and it can cause a lot of discomfort to her gums as they begin to swell up. She will begin to push and tug her gums using her tongue, which will, in turn, induce a lot of pain. She will want to gnaw on anything and everything around her, which is again dangerous as it can make her fall sick. Here is how you can help.

1. Gently, massage your child's gums using your ring finger. The ring finger has the least pressure compared to other fingers. Rub your child's sore gums with a little touch of honey so she allows you to massage them.

2. Using ice generally helps during the teething process. You can massage your child's gums along with a small chunk of ice. Make sure the ice is not sharp as it can cut through the skin. Do not keep it in one place for a long time as it can cause a cold burn.

3. You can also freeze breastmilk to make tiny popsicles so your child can gnaw on them to relieve herself from feeling irritated. You can also place the popsicle on her gums and move it all around the gums. This will also help bring down the swelling to some extent.

4. You can find a lot of different kinds of teethers in the market, that are jelly based. You can put the teether in the fridge for a while to cool it and then give it to your child to chew on.
