Are you still supposed to be gaining weight?

Up until now, your weight gain should be between 10 and 12.5 kilos. You may start to gain weight more rapidly from this week, as your baby also grows very rapidly at this time. Keep eating well, and make sure that you don't skip any meals.

On an average, you will continue to put on about half a kilogram a week until just before delivery. Don't try to slow your weight gain, as this nutrition is critical to your baby right now. Your baby weighs almost 2 kilograms but may double the weight over the next few weeks. So, it's more important than ever to pay attention to your diet. At this stage, it is advisable to eat smaller meals more frequently due to the lack of space in your abdomen and the probability of heartburn.

At 33 weeks of pregnancy, your metabolism is working at top speed. Hence, you might notice that your weight gain is slowing down a little. When your doctor measures your abdomen, however, you will see that your little one is still growing steadily, even if you’re not gaining weight as rapidly as before.

Your fast metabolism may make you feel really warm at times, almost as though you have an inbuilt heater. Even if you’re pregnant during winter, you might feel overheated. The extra body heat and sweating puts you at risk of dehydration. So, keep drinking plenty of water.
