Your little one is probably kicking up quite a storm in there right now! It’s time for you to start keeping count of your baby movements.

Any change in movement in the third trimester is often the earliest sign of distress in a baby. It’s important to start doing movement counting to establish a pattern of what is normal for your little one. When you know what is normal for your baby, then you are more alert to potential red flags.
Count all your baby’s movements-- tumbles, kicks, and punches all count, no matter how subtle. It’s also recommended to monitor movements at the same time every day so that you get an accurate feel for your baby’s patterns.
Pick the time of day when your little one is usually more active. Get into a comfortable position—either sitting or lying down on your left side. Relax and concentrate on feeling your baby move. You need to time how long it takes for your baby to move 10 times. Usually your baby will move 10 times in the span of 30 minutes, however, it may take up to 2 hours.
Don’t expect an exact amount of time every time you do your kick counts, as there can be a wide range of time differences. So, remember to look for significant deviations from the pattern over the course of a few days.
If you have not felt 10 kicks by the end of the second hour, wait a few hours and try again. If after trying a second time, you still do not feel 10 movements within 2 hours, contact your doctor.
