Here are some essentials that you need to stock up:

    Diapers

All babies need diapers. They are available in cloth form or disposable form. Babies need at least 10 diapers a day. So it is better to stock a lot of them.

    Wipes

Babies and wipes go hand in hand. You will need the wipes if your baby has dirty diaper or a running nose or any other spills. It is better to go for unscented wipes.

    Hand sanitizers and anti-bacterial cleaners

Babies are susceptible to infection. Hence, it is important to sanitize their room completely. Anything that comes in contact with the baby should also be cleaned and sanitized. A hand sanitizer comes in handy for this. Before anyone handles your baby, ensure that their hands are sanitized. Lots of sanitizers and anti-bacterial cleaners are available in the market. Choose the ones that suit you.

    Formula

A formula is handy if you are unable to breastfeed. You will need lots of it. Hence, it’s better to stock In advance. Start with a small quantity first and check if your baby has any allergy. Different types of formula are available in the market.

    Baby wash and lotion

Baby wash is very useful as you might need to clean your baby frequently initially. Baby lotion helps to keep the skin soft and supple.

    Bottles

Bottles are needed if you are formula feeding or pumping your milk and feeding later. Having spare bottles helps if your baby is really hungry and when bottle is dirty.

    Clothing

Clothes of various sizes are essential. While going to the hospital, carry newborn clothes and stock up various sizes of clothes at home as babies will keep growing.

    Nipple cream

Nipple cream is important as you are going to be feeding your baby most of the time. Your nipples will become sore. A lot of creams are available in the market. You can choose the one that suits you. Nipple creams help to reduce the soreness of nipples.

    Sanitary pads

Sanitary pads are essential as you will have bleeding after the birth of your baby. You might be given the pads in the hospital. It is better to stock some at home.

    Breast Pad

Breast pads absorb milk leaks, if any, and prevent leakage. It is useful if you have not fed your baby from a long time or you have heavy breasts.

    Burp Cloths

Burp cloths are essential after feeding your baby as he may spit up while burping. Having this cloth over your shoulder while burping your baby will prevent your clothes from getting soiled.

    Diaper rash cream

A lot of babies develop an allergy or rash in the diaper region. Diaper rash cream helps to heal the rash. Apply diaper rash cream as and when you change the diaper.

    Detergent
