Caffeine should be completely avoided during pregnancy due to its adverse effects on the mother and the baby. It might cause sleeplessness, anxiety, baby with low birth weight, and miscarriage as well. During pregnancy, when you drink caffeine then it goes through the placenta and reaches into the bloodstream of your baby. Your body will be able to metabolize to get rid of caffeine but your baby who is still developing inside is not able to do so. This might prove harmful for your baby’s growth and that is why caffeine should be avoided when you are pregnant.

Caffeine also increases your heart rate and blood pressure and causes insomnia. Do not drink too much of tea as well due to the caffeine content in it and avoid energy drinks that are high in sugar and caffeine. Also, exposure to the heightened rate of caffeine in mothers leads to obesity in children at the age of 3-5 years. Replace your caffeine drinks with coconut water, buttermilk, and apple cider vinegar after consulting with your doctor. If you are a coffee lover then you need to cut down this habit gradually and then kick it out completely during your pregnancy. Drink fresh juice when you feel like drinking caffeine or grab a glass of milk that will soothe your urge for caffeine in a faster way.
