This recipe is super healthy and a staple food of Odisha. It is nothing but raw papaya curry. It is a powerhouse of nutrients and helps to cure helps constipation, acidity, piles and diarrhoea. It is also a rich source of magnesium, potassium, vitamins A, C, E and B.

1 medium size raw papaya, 2 medium chopped onions, 4 big garlic cloves chopped, 1 big tomato, 1 tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 2 tsp coriander seeds powder, 2 tsp cumin powder, a pinch of asafoetida, 2 tsp sugar, 1 cup of water, 2 tsp oil, and salt to taste
1. Peel papaya and wash it and cut into cubes.
2. Pressure cook the papaya cubes with water and little salt.
3. Once it gets cooked, mash it a little and add sugar to this. Mix it well.
4. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and let it crackle. Then add chopped onion and crushed garlic. Saute it till onion become transparent.
5. Add chopped tomato and saute for another 2 mins.
6. Then add all the spices red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds powder, coriander seeds powder, salt and sauté for 10 minutes.
7. Put the mashed papaya into this mixture.
Serve hot with chapatti.
