Beetroot Cutlet

Beetroots are very good for health for your kiddo. They improve the blood supply and are also good source of iron. If your kiddo is not a fan of beetroot, these beetroot cutlets are the best way to sneak them in.

    Ingredients needed to make Beetroot Cutlet:

    2 medium sized beetroots, 2 large potatoes, turmeric powder, salt, 2 slices of bread (whole wheat), 4 table spoons roasted semolina, 2 teaspoons oil

    Steps to make Beetroot Cutlet:

    1. In a pan or pressure cooker, boil both the beetroot and potatoes together with some salt and enough water for 7 to 8 whistles on medium flame.

    2. Soak two slices of bread in water.

    3. Drain the water. then peel and grate the beetroot in a bowl.

    4. Grate the potato in the same bowl. this is done to get a even smooth mashed potato mix.

    5. Add turmeric powder and soaked bread slices.

    6. Mix everything well with your hands. now shape them into round patties or tikkis.

    Next phase of steps:

    1. Take some roasted semolina (rava) in a plate.

    2. Place each beetroot tikki on the semolina and ensure that they are evenly coated on all sides by the semolina.

    3. Dust off the extra rava.

    4. In a pan, add some 2 tablespoons oil and fry the beetroot cutlets till they are crisp and golden.

    5. Place the fried beetroot cutlets on kitchen paper towels for extra oil to be absorbed.

    Serve Beetroot Cutlet hot with any chutney or dip or sauce of your choice.
