Butterfruit Knots

Kids usually run away from fruits, but they like stuffed parathas especially aloo paratha. This is a variation to feed your kid, fruit and paratha in one go. Butterfruit contains a wide variety of nutrients including 20 diffferent vitamins and minerals.

    Ingredients to make Butterfruit Knots:

    1 cup wheat flour, 1 cup mashed ripe avocado, 1 medium finely, chopped onion, ½ tsp. chilli powder, ½ tsp. turmeric powder, ½ tsp. cumin powder, 1 tbsp. finely chopped coriander leaves, salt to taste, ½ tsp. lime juice, water as needed, 1 tbsp. oil, 1 tbsp. ghee, ¼ tsp. garam masala powder

    Steps to make Butterfruit Knots:

    1. Knead the wheat flour with 2 pinch of salt into soft dough by adding little water at a time. Cover with a kitchen towel and keep it aside.

    2. Sauté Onion with 1 tbsp. oil in a thick pan and add avocado, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander leaves, salt, lime juice, garam masala powder and mix well and cook for few minutes stirring constantly that all the ingredients are blended together. Remove from heat and let it cool.

    3. Make balls of required size from the dough.

    4. Divide the stuffing into same number as balls of dough.

    5. Use a rolling pin to roll a ball to a small chapatti using some dry flour.

    6. Put one portion of stuffing in the center of chapatti and bring to ball shape covering all the sides.

    7. Using dry flour roll it in your hand in cylindrical shape and make a ‘8’ shape similar to a knot shape. Repeat for all the dough.

    8. Cook on a hot tawa or griddle.

    9. Let it cook on one side till some brown spots appear.

    10. Turn and apply ghee when it is cooked, turn the other side and apply ghee and store in a hot pack.

    Serve this butterfruit knot to your kid with sauce or jam.
