Chana Stew

Inspire your child to eat healthy, with this Chana stew. This dish is easy and fast to make and is the perfect one to go with any main course or as it is. Chana is filled with the goodness of protein, calcium, and potassium.

    Ingredients to make Chana Stew:

    1 cup Bengal gram, 1 medium onion diced, 1 big tomato diced, 1 tsp. cumin seeds, 1 tsp. pepper, 1 tbsp. garlic-ginger paste, 2 green cardamoms, 1 inch cinnamon stick, 1 green chili, ¼ tsp. turmeric powder, mustard oil as needed, salt to taste, 1 tbsp. finely chopped coriander leaves.

    Steps to make Chana Stew:

    1. Soak Bengal gram for an hour and pressure cook for 2 whistles or till the gram is cooked soft but not mashy.

    2. Drain the excess water and keep aside.

    3. Heat oil in a medium saucepan and add onions and sauté till they are translucent and soft. Add cinnamon stick, cardamoms, pepper, green chilli, garlic, ginger paste and sauté till the raw smell fades away.

    4. Add tomatoes, salt, turmeric and cook till the tomatoes are soft. Cool and puree the mixture in a blender.

    5. In the same pan heat oil and add the ground mixture and sauté for 2 minutes and add the boiled Bengal gram and use the cooked water for the required consistency.

    6. Simmer for few minutes or until thick consistency. Garnish with coriander leaves and remove from heat.

    Serve to your child with basmati rice, rotis, or just like that.
