Drann

Drann is a very famous savoury made especially during the fasting of Shivratri. It is made from rice flour and walnut is added to add more flavour to it. It can be a good appetizer and is super yummy too.

    Ingredients to make Drann:

    500 grams rice flour, 100 grams walnut (boiled and washed), ½ tablespoon red chilli powder, ½ tablespoon cumin seeds, 1/3 teaspoon hing/asafoetida, 1 teaspoon ajwain seeds, salt as per taste, oil for deep frying

    Steps to make Drann:

    1. Boil the walnuts in water for a minute then wash them with water and add lukewarm salted water.

    2. Mix flour along with chilli powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida and ajwain using the walnut water to knead into a dough. Allow it to rest for few minutes.

    3. Make medium sized ball of dough and roll into 5-7 mm thick flat bread.

    4. Bake on a skillet from both sides and tear into small diamond shapes, and then deep fry in hot oil. Drain excess oil.

    Cool and store in an air tight container.
