Try these cute little fried donuts. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with sugar coating or any topping is perfect for evening snacks and comes loaded with protein.

1 cup milk, 2 cups plain flour, 2 tbsp dry yeast, 2 beaten eggs, unsalted butter, 1/4th cup castor sugar, 1/4th tsp salt, oil for frying
1. Heat milk; add caster sugar and stir until dissolved.
2. Add yeast and stir until wet, set aside for 10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
3. Heat butter until almost melted, set aside. Beat eggs in another container set aside.
4. In a large bowl, combine the eggs and butter, whisk until well combined. Add the milk and yeast mix.
5. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt in the bowl and knead a smooth dough. Leave the dough for an hour so that it rises.
6. Roll dough out on a floured surface to 1/3 inch thickness. Cut into doughnuts using a donut cutter. Let stand for about 10 minutes.
7. Heat the oil in a large deep skillet and fry the donuts until golden from both sides.
8. Drain on paper towels and coat them with castor sugar when warm.
Serve immediately. You can add the chocolate or jam toppings.
