Golla Pies

A delicious sweet from West Bengal is Golla Pies. With simple ingredients like paneer, which has valuable protein and condensed milk, which has calcium and carbohydrates, you can prepare this yummy sweet. Flavouring this sweet with cardamom powder, saffron, and rose water and garnishing with pistachios and almonds, this rich sweet is simply superb. The nuts used provide vital vitamins and minerals too.

    Ingredients to make Golla Pies:

    2 cups grated paneer, half tin milkmaid, 1 tsp milk, 1 tbsp cream, ¼ tsp cardamom powder, 1 tsp rose water, 2 tsp ghee, 2-3 pistachos, 2-3 almonds, 4-5 saffron strands

    Steps to make Golla Pies:

    1. In a small bowl, pour 1 tsp milk and add the saffron strands.

    2. In a bowl, add the paneer, cardamom powder, rose water, milkmaid, saffron strands along with the milk, 1 tsp ghee and cream. Mix well.

    3. Keep a plate ready which is greased with ghee.

    4. In a pan, add the ghee. Pour the paneer mixture and keep stirring on medium flame for about 5 minutes or till the mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan.

    5. Pour this mixture on the greased plate. After 10 minutes, make small balls of this mixture. Garnish each golla pie with finely chopped pistachos and almonds on top.

    Golla Pies are ready to be relished. Enjoy this rich flavoured sweet.
