Haldi nu Shaak

This recipe is a health booster for kids as it is full of turmeric and other spices, which help to cure cold and cough during the winters. Turmeric is known for its healing properties like boosts digestion, provides relief from stomach problems, acts as a blood purifier and an excellent antiseptic.

Ingredients to make Haldi nu Shaak:

250 grams raw turmeric/kachi haldi, grated, 1 teaspoon fennel seeds,1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 2 teaspoons coriander powder, salt as per taste, 2 teaspoons red chili powder, 2 tablespoons ghee, 1 cup yogurt, 5 green chilies (chopped), 4 tomatoes (chopped), 5 garlic cloves (chopped), 3 onions (peeled and chopped), 100 grams ginger (grated), 2 teaspoons garam masala.

Steps to make Haldi nu Shaak:

1. Take a bowl and add yogurt, spice powders and salt into it. Mix well.

2. Now heat ghee. Roast turmeric till slight golden. Keep it aside.

3. In the same ghee, fry onion till translucent. Keep it aside.

4. In the same ghee, roast ginger along with cumin seeds, garlic, green chilies, ginger and fennel seeds. Fry for 2-3 minutes.

5. Add yogurt mixture and a little water. Bring it to boil. Reduce flame and simmer till mixture is thick and ghee separates.

6. Add turmeric and fried onion in the mixture. Mix it well.

7. Bring to boil. Add chopped tomato and fresh chopped coriander leaves to garnish.

Your dish is ready! Serve hot Haldi nu Shaak with roti to your kiddo.
