    Ingredients to make Horse Gram Chutney:

    1/4 cup horse gram or huruli, ½ cup grated coconut, 2-3 red chiles, 2 tsp urad dal (optional), 2 tsp chana dal (optional), 1/4 tsp coriander seeds, small marble sized tamarind, ½ tsp cooking oil, salt as per taste, 2 tbsp cooking oil for tempering, ½ tsp mustard seeds, 4 curry leaves, and a pinch of asafoetida

    Steps to make Horse Gram Chutney:

    1. Heat ½ tsp oil in a pan and add red chili, urad dal, chana dal, and coriander seeds. Fry them on medium heat and roast the dal till it turns slightly brown. Keep them aside.

    2. Roast horsegram on medium flame until it starts popping

    3. Combine grated coconut, fried ingredients, salt along with tamarind using required water and grind coarsely

    4. Heat 2 tbsp oil and add curry leaves, asafoetida, and mustard seeds. Let it splutter and pour the tempering on to the chutney.

    Serve with rice, palya, or sambhar.
