Kand Puri is a delicious snack, filling enough to satiate your child's famished tummy! Since the vegetable used in this dish is seasonal, make the most of the vegetable and this dish when it’s around in the winter seasons. Enjoy Kand Puri on a chilly wintery day!

    Ingredients needed to make Kand Puri:

    1 cup peeled, boiled and mashed purple yam (kand), ½ cup rajgira flour, 1 tsp green chilli paste, ½ tsp ginger (adrak) paste, 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (optional), ½ tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder, ½ tsp lemon juice, salt to taste, oil for deep-frying.

    Steps to make Kand Puri:

    1. Combine all ingredients in a deep bowl, mix well and knead into a stiff dough using a little water.

    2. Divide the dough into equal portions.

    3. Take one portion of the dough, roll it between your palms into a round and flatten it lightly to form a 50 mm diameter circle using your fingertips. Remember to flatten with your fingers and not roll the dough as it has yam

    4. Repeat the above process for remaining portions.

    5. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan, and deep-fry 2 puris at a time, on a slow flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.

    Serve the Kand Puris hot! They will get soggy if they cool down.
