Try out this calcium rich kadhi made with bitter gourd for your child. This is a great way to serve karela to your kiddo, which is an excellent source of dietary fibre, potassium, calcium, and vitamin C.

    Ingredients to make Karela Kadhi:

    1/4 cup finely chopped bitter gourd(karela), 1 cup low-fat curds, 2 tbsp besan,1 tsp oil, ½ cup finely chopped onions, 1 tsp ginger-green chilli paste, salt to taste

    Steps to make Karela Kadhi:

    1. Whisk curd, besan and 1½ cups of water in a big bowl. Make sure there are no lumps in it.

    2. Slice bitter gourd, soak them in salted water until use to remove bitterness from the gourd.

    3. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan and add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1-2 minutes.

    4. Add the bitter gourd and salt and cook on a medium flame for 2-3 minutes or till they are soft.

    5. Add the ginger-green chilli paste and the besan-curd-water mixture, mix well and bring to a boil, while once in between.

    6. Add little salt and cook for 1 minute.

    Serve hot with paranthas or rice.
