Kathal ka Achaar is a mouthwatering unique dish prepared with jackfruit and raw mango. Both are available in plenty in the summer season and hence, this dish is a must try during the season

    Ingredients to make Katthal ka Achaar:

    500 gms chopped raw jackfruit, 1/4 cup grated mango, 200 ml mustard (rai/sarson) oil, 4 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi), 4 tsp mustard seeds (rai/sarson), 2 tsp fennel seeds (saunf), 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing), 4 cloves (laung /lavang), 4 peppercorns (kalimirch), 2 bayleaves (tejpatta), 1 tablespoon kalonji, salt to taste

    Steps to make Katthal ka Achaar:

    1. Boil jackfruit in a pressure cooker for only 1 whistle.

    2. Strain the water completely.

    3. Heat oil in a pan, add the cloves, bayleaf, peppercorns and hing.

    4. Remove the pan from heat, add fennel seeds and raw mango.

    5. Add the chilli powder, turmeric powder, mustard seeds and salt to taste.

    6. Put again on flame and mix well.

    7. Add the jackfruit and mix well so that mango is well incorporated in jackfruit.

    8. Stir for 2 minutes.

    Let it cool before transferring it into a glass bottle.
