    Ingredients to make Kovalam Matar:

    1¼ cups boiled green peas, 1 tbsp oil, ½ tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp urad dal, ½ cup finely chopped onions, 1 tsp garlic paste, 1 tsp coriander-cumin seeds powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, ½ cup finely chopped tomatoes, salt to taste, 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander.

    To be ground into a paste using a little water: 4 tbsp grated coconut, 1 tbsp broken cashewnuts

    Steps to make Kovalam Matar:

    1. Heat oil and add the cumin seeds and urad dal. When seeds crackle, add the onions and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes.

    2. Add the garlic paste, coriander-cumin seeds powder, turmeric powder, tomatoes, salt and 2 tbsp of water, and cook on medium heat for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    3. Add the prepared coconut-cashew paste, green peas, coriander and ½ cup of water, and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve hot.
