Lemon Idiyappam

Idiyappam is a healthy tasty dish made of rice. It can be made in any flavour like coconut or tamarind or along with vegetables or lemon . It’s very easy to make and can be had for breakfast. This Lemon Idiyappam will surely be loved by your kiddo.

    Ingredients to make Lemon Idiyappam:

    Idiyappam, juice of 1 lemon or as needed, salt as required, oil, 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1 red chili, 1 green chili, hing/asafoetida - pinch, 1 tablespoon Bengal gram/chana dal, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, curry leaves - a sprig, 1 tablespoon roasted cashew nuts or peanuts

    Steps to make Lemon Idiyappam:

    1. Soak the idiyappam in hot water for 2 minutes.

    2. Drain water completely. It should be soft to the touch.

    3. Heat a pan, add oil. add the mustard seeds, when it splutters, add red chilly and green chilly and channa dal.

    4. Fry well and add roasted cashews or peanuts.

    5. Add turmeric powder and curry leaves.

    6. Add the soaked idiyappam.

    7. Mix very well and turn off.

    8. After it cools add lemon juice.

    Voila! Your Lemon Idiyappam is ready to be relished by your kiddo. Enjoy!
