Masoor Dal

A superb accompaniment to rice is masoor dal. This protein and dietary fibre rich side dish is easy to prepare, tastes awesome and very healthy for your child. Flavour the cooked dal with salt and a pinch of turmeric and the dal is ready.

    Ingredients to make Masoor Dal:

    ½ cup masoor dal, 1.5 cups of water, a pinch of turmeric, salt as required

    Steps to make Masoor Dal:

    1. Wash the masoor dal and soak it for 15-20 minutes. Drain the water and keep the dal aside.

    2. In a pressure pan, add the washed dal and turmeric and stir for 1-2 minutes.

    3. Add salt and water. Mix well and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.

    4. Once the steam is cooled, Masoor Dal is ready to be served.

    Enjoy this dal with hot steamed rice.
