Persimmon, Japan’s national fruit is a red brown or orange fruit. It is rich in vitamin A, C, and manganese. You can prepare a delicious spread, Persimmon Jam, for bread rolls or any kind of bread.

    Ingredients to make Persimmon Jam:

    10-12 Persimmons, 3 cups sugar, zest of 1 lemon, juice of 4 lemons

    Steps to make Persimmon Jam:

    1. Wash, peel and deseed the persimmons. Chop the pulp.

    2. In a vessel, add the persimmon pulp, sugar and cook till the sugar is dissolved completely over medium heat. Stir well.

    3. Add the lemon juice and zest. Cook for about 30-40 mins. Once you see foam appearing on top, the jam is ready.

    4. The consistency of the jam has to be thick.

    Store in sterilized jars and enjoy this delicious spread for breakfast or during snack time.
