Puffed Rice and Sesame Bars is an excellent healthy snack for your child. This is simple and easy to prepare. The jaggery will keep your child’s energy levels high and add iron to his diet.

½ cup jaggery (gur), 2 cups puffed rice (kurmura) cleaned and sifted, 2 tbsp. sesame seeds (til), ¼ tdp. cardamom (elaichi) powder, 1 tbsp. oil/ghee, water just enough to soak jaggery.
1. Add jaggery and water to the pan and bring them to boil, stirring until the jaggery melts completely.
2. Use a strainer to filter the liquid jaggery and grease a tray and keep it handy.
3. Dry roast the sesame (til) until it starts to splutter.
4. Pour the jaggery in a heavy bottomed pan and heat it on a medium flame and stir it constantly until the jaggery is thickened to a pearl like consistency when dropped in a bowl of water.
5. Add puffed rice and sesame seeds and mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and immediately spread it on the greased tray and cut into desired shapes after 2-3 minutes. When it is cooled, take the pieces and store it in an airtight container.
