Puliyogare is a rice dish with a superb taste which can be made in jiffy. It is the fine blend of spiciness, tanginess and sweetness. Pulses are high in fibre, zinc, calcium, protein and folate. Tamarind is a great source of fibre, carbohydrates and vegetable protein, which is composed of amino acids, such as tryptophan, methionine or lysine.

4 tbsp. of thick tamarind paste, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tbsp urad dal, 1 tbsp. chana dal, 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds, 4 tbsp peanuts, ½ cup oil, 11 dry red chili, salt to taste, 2 cups cooked rice, 1 tbsp. gingelly oil
1. Dissolve tamarind in 1 cup of water and squeeze of the pulp and set aside.
2. Heat ½ cup of oil. Add mustard, peanuts, channa dal, urad dal, ½ tsp fenugreek seeds and mix well. Fry this on a low heat for 2 mins.
3. Add 8 dry red chilli and mix well. Fry for a min.
4. Pour in the tamarind water and mix well.
5. Add salt and bring it to a boil. Boil it for 10 mins and then Simmer it till oil separates. It will take around 10 mins. Switch off the flame and cool it down.
6. Now make the spice powder. Take 3 red chili and ½ tsp fenugreek in a dry pan and roast it till you get nice aroma. Now cool it down and grind into a fine powder.
7. Now make puliyogare. Take rice and drizzle it with gingelly oil. Add as much puliyogare gravy you like and a tsp or two of spice powder and mix well.
Serve hot to your kiddo.
