Ridge Gourd Dosa

Ridge Gourd is a very healthy veggie because it contains very few calories. It also contains vitamin C for keeping away colds, B vitamins for good mood and vitality, zinc for strengthening our immune system, iron for anemia, manganese and magnesium for enzyme production and immunity, plus calcium and phosphorus for strong bones. Ridge Gourd is also a good anti-inflammatory agent, thus helping with cardiovascular diseases, strokes, and cancer. Dosa being a fermented food adds up to the nutritional benifits of ridge gourd when made as an unit. Ridge gourd dosa is a very healthy and tasty south Indian dish and very easy to make.

    Ingredients to make Ridge Gourd Dosa:

    Ridge gourd-1 large, rice- 2 cup, urad dal-1 cup, salt-to taste and oil-1/4 cup

    Steps to make Ridge Gourd Dosa:

    1. Soak the rice and urad dal separately for 1 hour.

    2. Take the blender and add chopped ridge gourd, salt, rice, urad dal and blend it into a dosa batter consistency. Allow the batter to ferment overnight or for 4-8 hours.

    3. Heat the tawa, pour one ladleful of batter and spread the dosa and cook the dosa using oil.

    Serve hot with sambhar and coconut chutney.
