Softy Indian Noodles(Rice Noodles)

Are you interested in giving healthy home-made noodles to your darling? Then this recipe is for you. A bit of labour but you will be happy that you have given your child a nutritious diet. When it is combined with seasonings, it provides all the required nutrients along with carbs.

    Ingredients to make Softy Indian Noodles(Rice Noodles):

    1 ½ parboiled rice, salt to taste or 1 tsp. salt, 1 tbsp. oil 1 steamer or idli maker, sevai maker or regular press

    Steps to make Softy Indian Noodles(Rice Noodles):

    1. Wash and soak the rice for 3 hours.

    2. Drain the water and grind the rice to a very smooth paste adding little water. The consistency should be that of idli batter.

    3. Add salt and oil to the batter and mix well.

    4. Bring water to boil in a steamer. Pour the batter in the greased idli plates and steam cook for 10-12 minutes until they are cooked.

    5. These idlis are slightly hard than the regular idlis. Put 1-2 idlis in the sevai maker and press to get hot rice noodles. Note: Keep the rest of the idlis inside the steamer because if the idlis become cool, it will be very difficult to press.

    6. Put the remaining idlis in batches into the sevai maker and press it to get hot rice noodles.

    You can season them to your child’s choice. Like, sprinkling desiccated coconut, sugar, ghee with cardamom powder and mixing them gently or some spicy versions like seasoning of lemon rice/coconut rice.
