Bottle gourd is a vegetable high on water and is a rich source of vitamin C, k and calcium. It helps in maintaining a healthy heart and brings down bad cholesterol levels. Sorekayi Poori is a special one for eating while you are on fast during the auspicious Navratri time. The goodness of bottle gourd and wheat flour makes this poori very nutritious and healthy and can made in minutes.

Ingredients to make Sorekayi Poori:

Sorekayi (bottle gourd)-2 small, wheat flour-1 cup, oil-1 cup, salt-to taste and ghee-1 tsp

Steps to make Sorekayi Poori:

1. Finely grate sorekayia in a bowl.

2. Add grated sorekayia and water to the pressure cooker. Cook till 1 whistle and keep aside.

3. Sieve the boiled Lauki to drain out excess water.

4. In a large bowl add wheat flour, salt and ghee.

5. Add boiled sorekayi, mash and knead into soft dough.

6. Now take enough portion of dough to make 1 Poori and give it a round shape with your hands. Coat it with Oil.

7. Roll it into a flat bread in a round shape with the help of a rolling pin.

8. Heat oil in a colander. Now add poori to the hot Oil and press slightly on the corners to make it fluffy with the help of a spatula. Cook till light brown.

Serve hot with kheer.
