Brown rice is touted as the healthier alternative to white rice because during its processing only the outermost layer, which is known as the hull, is removed. It is the outer layers of rice, which provide vital nutrients to the body, and are loaded with vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, phosphorous, copper, etc.

    Ingredients to make Tasty Brown Happiness:

    1 cup of brown rice, 1 cup masoor daal, 1 cup channa daal, 1 cup oil, 1 cup chopped onions, 1 cup chopped carrots, 1 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp salt to taste, 2 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin, 5 cloves

    Steps to make Tasty Brown Happiness:

    1. Mix the rice and all the dals and then cook it in 3 cups of water and salt to taste till tender.

    2. Heat oil, add cloves, cumin and saute till they change color a bit.

    3. Add the onions, carrots,coriander powder, garam masala and salt.

    Combine the wheat and dal mixture, simmer for 2-3 minutes and serve garnished.
