Tomato Dates Jam

Tomato is a good source of vitamin and minerals while dates have valuable iron. Combine these two ingredients and flavour them with ghee and sugar, which are a good source of fats and carbohydrates, you get yummilicious Tomato Dates Jam.This tangy sweet preserve is ideal for children aged 2-6 years.

    Ingredients to make Tomato Dates Jam:

    5 tomatoes, 6 dates, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp ghee

    Steps to make Tomato Dates Jam:

    1. In boiled water, put the tomatoes, cover and keep aside for 10 minutes.

    2. Remove the tomatoes and allow them to cool down

    3. Peel off the skin and cut into small pieces.

    4. Take off the seeds from the dates and roughly chop the dates.

    5. In a blender, add the chopped tomatoes and dates.

    6. In a deep pan, add ghee and the blended dates tomato puree.

    7. Keep stirring so that the mixture does not stick to the bottom.

    8. Add sugar and mix well for 1-2 minutes. Switch off the flame and fill in the glass jar. Its very important to fill the jar when the jam is still hot.

    That’s it. Yummy and nutritious tomato dates jam is ready to be spread on phulkas or toast.
