Prepare this Tomato Upma to treat your child's taste buds with some tangy and spicy flavours. The tomato adds iron to the regular upma and the colour appears more red than ever.

3/4 th cup suji, 2 tomato pureed, 1 chopped onion, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, a string of curry leaves, 1 tbsp mustard seeds, 1 tbsp oil, coriander leaves, 1 tsp urad dal, 1 tsp chana dal, a pinch of asafoetida, salt, water
1. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in kadai. Roast the suji on low-medium flame. Keep stirring continuously.
2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in kadai and add mustard seeds. When the seeds splutter, add curry leaves, urad dal, chana dal and saute it for a minute.
3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute. Add chopped onions and saute it till becomes translucent.
4. Add pureed tomato, salt, and saute for 2-3 minutes.
5. Add water and bring the mixture to boil. Add roasted suji and mix well.
6. Keep stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes until mixture turns thick. Switch off the flame and let it be settled for 5 minutes.
Serve it with coconut chutney. Add in green chillies to make it spicy if your kiddo is fond of a little spicy food.
