As a part of Onam festivities, this dish is made from yam and drumsticks and is known for its unique flavor. It represents the taste of South India in a tasty way.

2 cups chopped yam, 4 peeled and cut drumsticks, ½ tsp turmeric powder, salt to taste, oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp urad dal, 1 whole dry Kashmiri red chili, 1½ cup grated coconut, 2 cloves, 2 tsp chili powder, 7-8 curry leaves, 2 tbsp water
1. Take a pan and add 3 cups of water to it along with yam, drumsticks, turmeric powder and salt.
2. Add in the paste of grated coconut, 2 cloves, 2 tsp chilli powder, 7-8 curry leaves and 2 tbsp of water.
3. Mix well and cover with lid. Let it cook for few minutes on the medium flame.
4. Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds, urad dal, and red chili.
Pour the tempering over the curry and serve it hot with rice.
