Are you interested to experiment to build a sweet dish from poha? Jhatphat Avalakki Kheer also known as Avalakki Payasam, will be an excellent choice for it can be prepared very easily and instantly. Poha is easily digestible and is packed with energising carbs, fibre, protein and iron.

½ cup thick Poha (avalakki), 3 tbsp.Jaggery, 2 tbsp. Ghee, 1 ½ cup Milk, ¼ tsp. Cardamom Powder, ½ tsp. roasted and powdered Cashews, 1 tsp.Raisins.
1. In a heavy bottomed pan, heat ghee, roast raisins, when it bubbles up remove them in a cup and keep it aside.
2. Add poha to the pan and slightly roast it on a very low flame stirring constantly.
3. Add boiled milk to the poha and cook for 3 minutes, stirring every now and then, so that milk does not froth over and spill.
4. Once the poha is cooked soft add jaggery and mix well and cook for 2 minutes and add cardamom powder, switch off the flame and mix cashew powder and raisins.
