Dates Halwa

Dates are rich in multi-vitamins, fibre, iron, minerals, and other essential nutrients. When cooked with milk and jaggery, it turns delcious, healthy and an anytime favorite dessert. A spoon or a piece of dates halwa is mouth filling and will be nutritious for your child in winters.

    Ingredients to make Dates Halwa:

    2 cups dates, 2 cup milk, ½ cup almonds, 1 cup jaggery, 1 cup ghee

    Steps to make Dates Halwa:

    1. Soak soft dates in milk for 1-2 hours. If using hard dates then soak them for 5-6 hours.

    2. Grind the soaked dates along with milk into a smooth paste in a mixer.

    3. Heat a kadai and add 1 cup jaggery and dates mixture and mix it well. Now keeping the flame on medium high stir the dates anf jaggery mixture continuously.

    4. While stirring, add ½ cup ghee and keep stirring till the ghee mixes completely with dates and jaggery. Then again add ½ cup ghee and stir well.

    5. At the end add ground almonds and mix well. Continue to stir until the mixture starts leaving the sides of kadai.

    6. Once the halwa is ready you can transfer it onto greased plate to cut the desired shape to make burfi or serve in a bowl as halwa only.

    Dates Halwa is ready to serve. Give 2-3 spoons at a time to your child.
