Delicious Sihi Uppittu

Sihi Uppittu is a delicious dessert made using sooji and jaggery, both rich in carbohydrates.To flavour this sweet, you can add cardamom powder, which is a good source of vitamin and minerals and the novel spice, saffron, which has valuable minerals.

Ingredients to make Sihi Uppittu:

¼ cup sooji, ½ cup crushed jaggery, 1.5 cup water, 1 tsp ghee, 2-3 raisins, 1-2 powdered cashews, a pinch of turmeric, 4-5 saffron strands

Steps to make Sihi Uppittu:

1. In a pan, add ½ tsp ghee. Add the raisins, and powdered cashews and saute for one min. Dip the saffron strands in a tbsp of warm water. Keep them aside.

2. In the same pan, add the remaining ghee and saute the sooji till light golden brown.

3. In another vessel, prepare the jaggery syrup by melting the jaggery in ½ cup water. Filter the mixture and get the clear syrup.

4. Once the sooji is light brown, add one cup boiling water and the prepared jaggery syrup. Add a pinch of turmeric, saffron strands along with the water, cardamom powder and mix well on a medium flame.

5. Garnish sihi uppittu with raisins and powdered cashew.

Delicious Sihi Uppittu is ready.
