Make this tempting Fusion Idli with mixed lentils to keep your hunger pangs away for a longer time. As made from lentils, this idli is packed with protein and carbohydrates. The batter is fermented before use to make it probiotic food, which is beneficial for the absorption of vital vitamins and minerals in the body and also for improving immunity.
1/4 cup rice, 1/4 cup moong dal, 1/4 cup chana dal, 1/4 cup toor dal, ½ cup urad dal, 2 chopped onions, ½ cup finely chopped beans, coconut, oil, salt as per taste
1. Wash well and soak the lentils and rice for aproximately 4-5 hours.
2. Grind the mixed rice and lentils with salt to a smooth paste.
3. Keep overnight or for 8 hours to ferment the batter.
4. Now when you take out the batter for preparing idlis add chopped onions and beans in the same.
5. Grease the idli moulds with oil and pour a spoonful of batter in each plate.
6. Steam for 15-20 minutes. When done, remove it from moulds using back of spoon or knife.
7. Garnish the idlis with grated coconut before serving.
You can mix the grated coconut in the batter to make it a fusion of sweet and salt.
