Ingredients: Idli Batter as needed, Yellow Moong Dal - 1/2 cup, Toor Dal - 1/2 cup, Small Onion - 5 peeled, Tomato - 1 large chopped, Curry leaves - a sprig, Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp, Sambar Powder – 2 tbsp, Salt to taste, Tamarind Pulp - 2 tbsp, Coriander Leaves - 4 tbsp finely chopped. For Seasoning: Oil- 1 tbsp, Mustard Seeds-1 tsp, Cumin Seeds- 1 tsp, Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp
Steps:
1. Take moong dal, toor dal, onions, tomatoes, curry leaves, turmeric powder in a pressure cooker. Cover it with water and pressure cook it for 4 whistles, then simmer for 5 mins. Mash everything well.
2. Put the cooker back on heat. Add the sambar powder mix, salt, jaggery and tamarind pulp into the sambar and mix well. Simmer for 10 mins.
3. Now heat oil for tempering. Crackle mustard, cumin and asafoetida. Pour this into the sambar and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves.
4. Take greased mini idli mould. Spoon idli batter into the moulds. Steam for 5 mins until done. Serve hot with prepared sambar.
