Muga Dali Palanga

Prepare a delicious lentil preparation, Muga Dali Palanga, using moong dal and spinach. Moong dal is a good source of protein while spinach has valuable iron content. Flavouring the dal with cumin and turmeric powder, makes this side dish even more healthy and tasty.

    Ingredients to make Muga Dali Palanga:

    1 cup muga dali (moong dal), ½ cup palaga saga (spinach), 1 piaja (onion), 1 tomato, 1 green chili, 1 tsp mustard seed, 1 tsp cumin, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp refined oil, salt

    Steps to make Muga Dali Palanga:

    1. Wash and finely chop the spinach. Slice the tomato and onion.

    2. In a pressure pan, add the dal, tomato and spinach and cook for 3-4 whistles.

    3. Meanwhile, in a pan, add oil. Once warm add mustard, jeera and haldi. As the mustard crackles, add the green chilli and finely chopped onion.

    4. Saute for 4-5 minutes. Add the mashed spinach dal and salt. Give a good mix.

    Muga Dali Palanga is ready to be relished by your child for lunch or dinner. Serve with steamed rice.
